Imperial Coders' Network

The Imperial Coders’ Network is a scheme jointly run with Imperial Consultants where Imperial-based programmers (students and staff) are linked to commercial projects.

Why did you start Imperial Coders’ Network?

We frequently receive requests for programming work to be done. This can include front-end design, setting up a database or implementing more complicated machine learning functionalities. Coders’ Network has been designed to help to match these projects with programmers from the Imperial community. If you require support with software development for a grant-funded research project then please also contact the Imperial College Research Software Engineering Team, who can provide professional expertise on flexible terms.

I am a coder

What do I get?

There are two types of engagements that you can get involved in:

  • External contract: companies requiring small-scale software projects can fund staff/students to build them.
  • Internal collaboration: Imperial projects (academic/product/social) link up with other members of the Imperial community and collaborate on their own terms.

We have teamed up with Imperial Consultants (ICON) to deliver this initiative. All projects are treated individually. As a contributor, you can decide which projects to work on and whether you accept the terms of engagement.

What kind of projects will be available?

Through the Coders' Network, programmers at Imperial can be connected to both commercial and academic projects. Where a fee is involved, programmers will enter contracts with companies, research groups or individuals to prototype or develop software, administered by ICON.
