Imperial Innovations was founded to protect and maximise commercial opportunities arising from research developed at Imperial College London. We have an early opportunity to assess the commercial potential of research from the College, and can accelerate its development through funding and support. Imperial College London is a renowned centre of excellence for science, technology, medicine and business, and is currently ranked as the ninth best university in the world (THES 2010). The College has strong relationships with industry, and currently receives more research funding from Industry than any other UK institution.

68 fellows of the Royal Society are currently employed by or associated with Imperial College London, and past and current members of the College include 14 Nobel Laureates and two Fields Medallists. A diverse range of significant innovations have been made at the college, including the development of holography and the foundations of fibre optics, and famously, the discovery of penicillin. Imperial’s mission states their commitment to meeting the needs of industry though the development of science, technology and medicine. Imperial Innovations is the dedicated technology business which helps to commercialise this science.

In addition to its relationship with the College, Imperial Innovations is also engaged by the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to provide technology commercialisation services to its employees.

If you are employed by Imperial College London or Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and believe you have invented something with commercial potential, please see this list of contacts in the Technology Transfer team with whom you can discuss your invention.
